As a professional gardener, I can say without reservation that Nisaku makes great gardening knives. Their standard sheaths are okay, but occasionally need a duct tape wrap to keep them together. Not a big deal. But the sheath that came with this knife is an example of completely thoughtless design. I liked the idea of a hard plastic sheath, and it's fine. But the belt loop is made from rubber, and the two are attached with a small screw and nut, with small washers. With any kind of pressure, say kneeling, the rubber stretches and the sheath pops off with the screw, nut and washers still attached. I've tried upsizing the hardware, and it still comes off the belt loop. The loop should be a flexible plastic, or even vinyl or leather, which won't stretch as much. So now I use one of my old sheaths from Nisaku, duct tape and all. Great knife, the best! Too bad the sheath and it's attachment are so poor in design.

Works great for weeding and digging up smaller plants for transplanting. Seems to be very durable. Well worth the price.

United StatesThis tool is super. Just used it for some fall weeding and bulb planting. It's not as sharp as I thought it'd be and it does not cut through bedstraw or grass, but would be good at cutting apart root clumps and certain worked as a trowel. Happy to have it as one of the items I use in my landscaping.
